HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 28 (ACN) In a post on X, Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel sent his greetings to the 21 para athletes who will represent the Caribbean nation at the 2024 Paralympic Games, assuring that the history of 43 gold medals in Paralympic Games will grow and highlighting the protection of all Cubans’ right to practice and inclusion in sports.
On his end, Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz wished the Cuban para athletes success in Paris and reasserted their people’s support and admiration for them.
The Cuban delegation to the 2024 Paralympic Games, which gathers 4,400 athletes who will compete in 23 disciplines, pins its hopes for medals on Guillermo Varona (javelin throw), Yamel Vives (100m), Sheyla Hernández (judo) and Yunier Fernández (table tennis), in addition to Olympic champions Omara Durán (track and field) and Robiel Yankiel (long jump).
