HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 28 (ACN) In a post on X, Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel praised the performance of Cuban boxers in the Champions’ Night event sponsored by the International Boxing Association (IBA) in which all Cuban boxers won their matches.
He especially congratulated Arlen López (80 kg) and Julio César La Cruz (92 kg), who won their world belts in front of their people in the first professional event of this kind hosted by Cuba in more than 60 years.
“This is the first time Cuban boxers fight at home ever since they joined the professional circuit in 2022. Congratulations to them!”, the President wrote.
