Havana, Aug 21 (ACN) Cuba will be on group A at the upcoming 6th World Baseball Classic, which will take place in Puerto Rico, where the island’s team is scheduled to face the locals plus Canada and Panama.
According to a release by the World Baseball and Softball Confederation (WBSC), the US, Mexico, Italy and Britain will join group B in Texas, while Japan will host Group C, which includes the locals, South Korea, Australia and the Czech Republic.
Group D will play in the US city of Miami including the teams from Venezuela, the Dominican Republic, the Netherlands and Israel. The last four classified teams are still to define.
This will be the sixth classic, which Japan has won in three occasions, with a victory for the US and the Dominican Republic.
Cuba got the silver in the first Classic held in 2006 and occupied the fourth position in the latest one last year. Lc/
