HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 20 (ACN) Cuba’s Santa Clara Bombarderos lost 6-4 to Mexico and said goodbye to the Little League World Series, held in the US city of Williamsport.
Team Cuba was ahead 4-1 in the bottom of the sixth when the Mexicans scored five runs in their final turn at-bat when Antonio Guerrero hit a three-run blast to tie the game and then Ulises Ortiz came up with a two-run homer for the win on the grass of the Volunteer Stadium.
The Cubans beat the Czech Republic 4-1 in their first presentation but they fell Tuesday to Chinese Taipei 10-2, so they have to return home given the double elimination rule of the tournament.
The Bombarderos, who came to this Series on the automatic bid that the organizers offer on a rotating basis, as it happened in the Series with the Bayamo Alazanes, will have to earn a place in the Caribbean region to attend the 2025 World Series.
