HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 20 (ACN) Cuba's top authorities congratulated today the five-time Olympic champion Mijain Lopez Nunez on his 42nd birthday.
“For the five Olympic golds for the Homeland that made him one of the legends of Paris 2024 and for the dedication, dignity and commitment of the true athlete, proud of the T-shirt of the team of the four letters. Congratulations again, champion,” said Miguel Diaz-Canel, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and president of the country, on X.
Esteban Lazo Hernandez, president of the National Assembly of People's Power and the Council of State, highlighted the sporting talent, dedication, commitment and loyalty of the Greco-Roman wrestler.
In a congratulatory message, published on the X account of the Parliament, Lazo Hernandez, who is also a member of the Political Bureau, congratulated the champion and deputy, highlighting the great joys he has given to the people of Cuba.
Also on the occasion of the celebration, Roberto Morales Ojeda, member of the Political Bureau and Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the PCC, sent a big hug to this sporting glory.
Mijain Lopez Nunez was born in the municipality of Consolacion del Sur, in te westernmost province of Pinar del Rio, on August 20, 1982.
Cuban athlete made history at the recent Paris 2024 Olympic Games by becoming the only athlete to win the same individual event in five consecutive Olympics (after Beijing 2008, London 2012, Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020).
Lopez Nunez has been a deputy to the National Assembly of People's Power of Cuba in the 9th Legislature and the current 10th Legislature, for his native municipality.
