HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 20 (ACN) Cuba's second volleyball team will face Mexico today in the first day of the 3rd North, Central America and Caribbean Tournament (Norceca) Men's Final Six 2024, to be held until the 25th in the Canadian city of Gatineau, in Quebec.
According to the website www.norceca.net, Jesus Cruz's disciples will debut Tuesday against Mexico, before facing Puerto Rico on Wednesday, Canada (Thursday), the Dominican Republic (Friday) and the United States (Saturday).
Regarding the schedule announced by the organizers, the fifth place and the bronze and gold medals, respectively, will be disputed in Sunday at the Slush Puppie Center.
Caribbean island team is made up of players between 18 and 23 years of age, with Daniel Martinez, an opposite attacker, and assistants Yusniel Gonzalez, Felix Ernesto Rodriguez and Victor Ramon Andreu.
The central defenders are Thiago Suarez, Endriel Pedroso and Alexis Wilson, while captain Adrian Chirino and Yonni Jesus Iglesias will serve as passers and libero Yumichael Lawrence.
Cruz, the technical director of the top team, will now be accompanied by Manuel Espinosa (assistant), doctor Lenin Hernandez and Roberto Reyes, head of the delegation.
Mexico, in 2021, Cuba (2022) and the United States (2023) are the owners of the three titles in the editions held so far, in all cases followed by Canada, while the US has two bronze medals (2021 and 2022), and Mexico holds the bronze medal in 2023.
