HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 20 (ACN) The Santa Clara Bombers, representing Cuba, will seek today a victory that will keep them in competition in the Little League World Series, to be held in the US city of Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
The match will be against the Mexican team of the Matamoros League, at the Volunteers Stadium, where the defeated team will have to leave the tournament.
According to the classification system imposed by the organizers, those teams that suffer two defeats will be eliminated and both Mexicans and Cubans have already lost one.
The team from the Caribbean island achieved a victory in their debut against the Czech Republic with a score of 4-1, but lost yesterday against China Taipei with a final score of 10-2.
The Mexicans accumulated a pair of successes against Aruba (2-0) and Canada (8-0) and lost to Venezuela (0-10) by knock out in five innings.
For the important game, the Cuban team manager, Everaldo Pedroso, announced as pitcher Deivy Hernandez, a left-hander who won the admiration of all the fans in the final of the national championship, where he was elected the MVP of the tournament.
