HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 11 (ACN) Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel congratulated Yarisleidis Cirilo on her bronze medal in the women's single canoe 200m event of the 2024 Olympic Games.
“Cuba paddled with you, dear Yarisleidis. We felt your energy and desire to be on the podium as member of the fastest 200m C1 final in Olympic history,” the president wrote in a post on X. “I am so proud to see a very Cuban woman from the province of Guantanamo who is a member of Parliament. You’re only 22, so many more victories will come your way”.
The Cuban athlete finished third with 44.36 s in a race won by the Canadian Katie Vincent, who clocked a world-best 44.12 s.
