PARIS, Aug 9 (ACN) Cuban Yarisleidis Cirilo and Yinnoli Lopez placed eighth today in the final A of the C2 500 meters (m), corresponding to the canoeing of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Cirilo and Lopez came last in the medal discussion with a time of 2:01.77 minutes (min), although it is very meritorious for them to have qualified for this decisive stage.
Chinese Shixiao Xu and Mengya Sun (1:52.81 min) won the title in this event, with a record that is the best mark in summer events, according to the official website of the competition.
The podium was completed by Ukrainians Liudmyla Luzan and Aanastiia Rybachok (1:54.30 min), winners of the silver medals, and Canadians Sloan Mackenzie and Katie Vincent (1:54.36 min), winners of the bronze medals.
A little earlier Friday, the Cuban pair finished third in the first semifinal with a time of 1:57.03 min, behind Xu and Sun (1:53.73 min); while in second place passed the finish line the Spanish Antia Jacome and Maria Corbera (1:56.65 min).
For the Island, the greatest options in canoeing will be with Cirilo in the 200 m C1, an event in which she was world champion in Duisburg 2023.
