PARIS, France, Aug 7 (ACN) Cuba’s No. 1 triple jumper Lazaro Martinez qualified for the final of this event of the 2024 Olympic Games.
Martinez, world indoor champion in 2022 and runner-up in the 2023 outdoor championships, reached the 16.79m mark to finish 11th in a qualifying round in which 32 athletes competed, including six Cubans, of whom three represent other nations.
Pedro Pablo (for Portugal) and Jordan A. Díaz (for Spain) were first and second with 17.44m and 17.24m, whereas Andy Hechevarría (16.70m) and Cristian Nápoles (16.67m) finished in 17th and 18th place, respectively.
