Havana, Aug 7 (ACN) Cuban boxer Ersilandy Alvarez (-63.5 kilos) took the Olympic gold at Paris 2024 after defeating local Sofiane Oumiha 3-2 on Wednesday.
Alvarez was favored by all judges in the first round, though three of them saw the French boxer win the second and third rounds, the general count favored the Cuban.
Cuba brought five boxers to the Olympic Games. Arlen Lopez (-80 kilos) took the bronze, while Alejandro Claro (-51 kilos), Saidel Horta (-57 kilos) and Julio C. La Cruz (-90 kilos) failed to take a medal at the games.
