PARIS, Aug 2 (ACN) Andy Granda, in the over 100 kilograms division, could not win the bronze medal today at the Olympic Games in Paris.
On the tatami of the Arena del Campo de Marte, Granda fell by Waza- Ari against Temur Rakhimov, from Tajikistan, in a fight that placed him in fifth place.
This was the third time the two judokas faced each other, always with victory for the representative of Tajikistan, ninth in Tokyo 2020 and perpetrator of the Cuban in that summer competition.
Granda, world champion in Tashkent 2022 and one of the most important Cuban players to climb the podium in the French capital, reached the bronze medal discussion after defeating Azerbaijan's Kokauri Ushangi in the repechage.
With this result, Cuban judo finished its performance in Paris with no medals, after the delegation's standard bearer Idalys Ortiz (+78 kg), Ivan Silva (90 kg) and Maylin del Toro (63 kg) fell in different phases.
