Cuban Alejandro Claro loses in quarterfinals in Olympic boxing

ACN - Cuba

PARIS, Aug 2 (ACN) Cuban boxer Alejandro Claro, in the 51 kilograms (kg) division, lost today by a 2-3 divided vote in the quarterfinals of the Olympic Games, to be held in this city until August 11.

Claro, debutant in the Olympic Games, could not defeat the French Billal Bennama at the Paris North Arena, and therefore was left out of medals in the Parisian event.
In a physically demanding bout for both boxers, the Cuban gave battle until the end; and the third round was the decisive of the duel.

Bennama, three-time world medalist, in spite of his locality, could not overcome the Caribbean, bronze medalist in the World Championship of that sport held in Tashkent in 2023.

Today, double Olympic champion Arlen Lopez (80 kg) will also be in action, who will face Uzbekistan's Turabek Kabibullaev in the afternoon to secure the bronze medal.
