Cuban Laina Perez finishes 24th in the 25-meter pistol at Paris 2024

PARIS, Aug 2 (ACN) Cuban Laina Perez placed 24th today in the qualifying phase of the 25-meter (m) pistol, corresponding to the sport shooting at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Perez, champion of the Lima 2019 Pan American Games, accumulated 577 points in the precision and rapid fire stages, and could not be included among the eight finalists in an event in which 40 female pistol shooters competed.
In precision, in the three rounds of shooting she totaled 96, 96 and 97 units; while in the rapid fire she scored 97, 97 and 94 scratches, according to the official website of the competition.
Hungarian Veronica Major led this modality, equaling the Olympic qualification record, with a score of 592, the same achieved in Rio de Janeiro 2016 by China's Jingjing Zhang.
On Saturday, the Cuban shooter was left without options to be a finalist in the 10m air pistol, after finishing in 39th place.
At the Chateauroux Shooting Center, the Cuban shooter scored 560 points after six series of shots.
The Caribbean nation has won five medals in this sport in the history of the Olympic Games, including one gold, one silver and three bronze medals.
