PARIS, Aug 2 (ACN) Cuban Lisbet Hernandez finished 28th among 32 competitors in the three-position 50-meter (m) rifle event, corresponding to the sport shooting at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
At the Chateauroux Shooting Center, Hernandez accumulated 578 points, adding the points obtained in the prone, standing and kneeling positions.
With this result, the Cuban shooter was far from the first eight places that advanced to the medal discussion.
This elimination round was dominated by the US Sagen Maddalena and China's Quingyue Zhang, both with an Olympic qualification record of 593 points, according to the official website of the competition.
On Sunday, the island's representative finished 36th in the women's 10m air rifle, with 624.7 points in the six rounds of shooting, far behind the top eight shooters who qualified for the final, led by Hyojin Ban (634.5), from South Korea.
With this performance, Ban set an Olympic qualification record in a specialty in which 43 female shooters competed.
In shooting, the Caribbean nation has won five medals in the history of the Olympic Games, including one gold, one silver and three bronze medals.
