Cuban beach volleyball duo Alayo- Diaz advanced undefeated to Paris 2024

ACN - Cuba

PARIS, Aug 2 (ACN) The Cuban duo of Jorge Luis Alayo-Noslen Diaz won undefeated Group D of beach volleyball at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, defeating Morocco's Mohammed Abicha and Zouheir Elgraoui 2-0, once again with the support of the audience that attended the Champs de Mars, in front of the Eiffel Tower.

Although the victory by easy win was expected, 21-14 and 21-11, the truth is that the Cuban duo was cheered with flags and applause, even by the local amplification, as in their two previous presentations when they beat 2-0 the Americans Milas Partain and Andres Benesh and the second Brazilian pair of George Soto and Andre Loyola, in that order.

Now the Cubans will have to wait for the rest of the sections to define their qualifiers to know their rival in the next phase, which will feature the best of the best of the pairs present.
The first to arrive in the mixed zone, as usual, was Diaz, who with his usual smile expressed that although they knew that their opponents were of lower level than the United States and Brazil, they went out to the court in search of the important victory that would keep them undefeated and without sets against.

Alayo agreed with his statements and had words of gratitude for his duo partner when he highlighted his work in defense and said: "it is not for nothing that he is among the three best defenders of the tournament".

They also shared criteria about the next stage pointing out that they do not think about the rivals, since whoever they are, they will look for the medal they came for in the Parisian multisport event, the final fruit of the Olympic qualification.
