Cuban beach volleyball duo Diaz-Alayo still in qualifying zone for Paris

HAVANA, Cuba, Jun 4 (ACN) The Cuban beach volleyball duo of Noslen Diaz and Jorge Luis Alayo remained in the Olympic qualification zone for Paris 2024, now in 17th place with 7,800 points, after the latest official update -June 3- of the world ranking (WR) of the International Federation of International Volleyball Federation (FIVB).

As established, the 12 best results of the 13 FIVB tournaments are taken into account for the Parisian multi-sport event, and disciples of Francisco Alvarez Cutiño remain with good chances of making the grade to ensure their presence in the French capital, from July 26 to August 11.

On Sunday, Diaz and Alayo won the silver medal at the World Pro Tour Challenge in Stare Jablonki, Poland, a performance that ratified them in the area.

Previously, in the Elite 16 of the World Pro Tour in Tepic, Mexico, they won a historic bronze medal and finished eighth in the World Pro Tour Challenge in Xiamen, China.

Cutiño's pupils also won two silver medals and a fourth place in the World Tour of the World Pro Tour Challenge in Recife and Saquarema, both in Brazil, and in Guadalajara, Mexico.

They also achieved silver in the Varadero, Cuba phase of the North, Central America and Caribbean Circuit (Norceca), silver and bronze in the two phases of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

Diaz and Alayo are doing well in the world and Olympic provisional rankings, and they also have the possibility of getting a ticket to the Norceca pre-Olympic, an event to be held June 19-24 in the Mexican city of Tlaxcala, where they would have to finish at the top of the podium to achieve it.
