HAVANA, Cuba, Jun 2 (ACN) Cuban triple jumper Leyanis Perez won the seventh event of the 2024 Diamond League held in Stockholm, Sweden.
Perez, silver medalist at the world indoor event held in Glasgow, Scotland in March, won the triple jump competition with 14.67 m—ahead of Jamaica’s Shanieka Ricketts (14.40 m) and Dominica’s Thea Lafond (14.26 m)—in her third attempt, good enough to notch up her second Diamond League victory.
On May 25, in the U.S. city of Eugene, Perez won the fifth event with 14.73 m in her first attempt.
These two victories gave the Cuban athlete 16 points and placed her atop the Diamond League’s triple jump ranking.
