HAVANA, Cuba, Jun 2 (ACN) Cuba’s Lelys Martinez notched up eight points in nine rounds to win the rapid games event in the 2024 Absolute Continental Chess Championship of the Americas, held in Medellin, Colombia.
On a Saturday dedicated to matches of 15 minutes plus 10 additional seconds per move, Martinez came out on top after seven wins and two draws.
The tournament gathered more than 300 players, most of them engaged in the classic games that finished Sunday after eleven rounds.
