HAVANA, Cuba, May 29 (ACN) Cuba’s Luis Ernesto Quesada notched up a win Wednesday during the eighth round of the Absolute Continental Chess Championship of the Americas 2024, held in Medellin, Colombia, and remained in the fifth position of the tournament.
After this victory—over Evan Park (U.S.A.)—the Cuban boasts 6.5 points, just half a point below the leaders, namely the Chilean Cristobal Henriquez (Chile) and the Colombian Roberto Garcia (who is Cuban by birth).
The 2024 Americas Chess Championship, scheduled for 11 rounds by the Swiss system, will qualify four players for the upcoming World Cup.
