HAVANA, Cuba, May 16 (ACN) The Cuban Yerisbel Miranda started the day at the top of the Central American Women's Chess Championship, held in the city of Santa Clara in central Cuba.
Yerisbel, third in the national championship and best woman player in the recent Capablanca in Memoriam tournament, has notched up 2.5 of 3 possible points after drawing with her fellow countrywoman Yoana Gonzalez, who is currently in second place.
This competition gathers 29 players from four countries—the other three are Costa Rica, Guyana and Honduras—and its results will be taken into account to put together the Cuban team for the 2024 Chess Olympiad, to be held in Budapest in September.
