HAVANA, Cuba, May 13 (ACN) Cuban men's handball team qualified for the 2025 World Championship by winning the title in the North American and Caribbean Handball Tournament, hosted by Mexico.
Mexican team was the rival of its Cuban counterpart in the final, in a duel in which the representatives of the Island won with a wide advantage of 36 goals to 21, according to the official site of the tournament.
Already from the first half, the winners made clear their intention to win the gold medal and the only available ticket to the world event to be jointly organized by Croatia, Denmark and Norway next year.
Before the break, the team led by Jover Hernandez was ahead on the scoreboard with a difference of 18-10, a margin that widened in the course of the match, being the best of that competition from start to finish, in which they reached six victories without defeats.
With this title, Cuba strengthened its dominance in the historical medal table of these competitions, now with two gold medals, the previous one in 2018, a silver medal in 2014 and the bronze in 2022.
