HAVANA, Cuba, Apr 10 (ACN) The Cuban men's softball team beat the Dominican Republic at the Pan American Championships under way in Sincelejo, Colombia, a qualifier that grants five tickets to the World Cup.
It was Team Cuba’s second victory after winning over Costa Rica in the opener and losing three games in a row to Guatemala, Colombia and Venezuela that put the island’s hopes of qualifying in danger.
After these results, Venezuela leads the standings with a 4-0 record, followed by Argentina (3-0), Dominican Republic, Guatemala and Colombia (2-2), Honduras (1-2), Cuba (2-3), Costa Rica (0-2) and Panama (0-3).
The four top teams after the round-robin will compete for the medals.
