HAVANA, Cuba, Apr 10 (ACN) Cuban archers Larissa Pagan and Javier Vega could not get a ticket to Paris 2024 in Olympic Qualification Tournament for the Americas, held in Medellin, Colombia.
Pagan lost in the quarterfinals to Canada's Virgine Chenier, who eventually finished second, whereas Vega was defeated by Colombia's Santiago Arcila, winner of the men's title.
This event granted two individual places to men and women athletes in the Olympic Games, to be held in Paris, France, from July 26 to August 11 this year.
Cuba still has a chance today with the Pan American Archery Championships, another qualifier but only for the best men’s and women’s teams which have not yet secured a place in the Olympics.
