Cuba vs. Venezuela at Pan American Men's Softball Championship



HAVANA, Cuba, Apr 9 (ACN) The Cuban men's softball team will play today against Venezuela in the third day of the Pan American Championship being held in the Colombian city of Sincelejo, a tournament that offers five tickets to the World Cup.

On the previous day, Cubans fell in their double match against Guatemala (7-2) and the Colombian hosts (2-0), this last match concluded in the early hours of this Tuesday morning.

In the first game, Leonardo Cardenas' disciples were dominated by Guatemala's Jorge Segura, who took the credit for walking the entire route with seven strikeouts and five hits allowed.

The second time, Elkin de Jesus Chinchilla was the executioner with a work of 6.1 chapters with only four hits allowed, in a game where Jeison Anillo connected a single that drove the two scores of the challenge.

Alain Roman, who won the opening game, was the defeated pitcher in both matches.

After the day's results, the reigning world champions Argentina, Dominican Republic and Venezuela are at the top of the tournament with a pair of undefeated victories, followed by Guatemala (2-1), Colombia (1-1) and Cuba (1-2).

The four best-placed teams after the qualifying round will meet in the crossings for the medals.
