Cuban Di Angelo Loriga wins his ticket to Paralympic Games in Paris 2024



HAVANA, Cuba, Mar 12 (ACN) Cuban Di Angelo Loriga won his ticket to the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games by placing tenth in the 50-meter (m) SH1 pistol at the Paralympic World Cup in New Delhi, India.

Loriga won the ticket on Monday, because the first nine in that event had already secured their qualification to that great event in the French capital.

On Sunday, Cuba won a bronze medal in the mixed team competition in the 50 m SH1 pistol, thanks to the contribution of the same Loriga, as well as Yenigladis Suarez and Alexander Reyna.

Cuban team scored 1,550 points, a new record for the Americas, to win the medal.

To reach the awards podium, Di Angelo scored 526 units, Yenigladis 522 and Alexander 502, in a modality dominated by China (1,611); while the second place went to the local team from India (1,573), according to the official website of the competition.

Suarez and Loriga also competed in the mixed team tournament in the 10 m SH1 air pistol, in which each of them fired 30 shots and accumulated 546 points, divided into 276 for the female and 271 for the male representative.

In the women's 25 m pistol, Suarez, champion of the Parapan American Games of Lima 2019 and Santiago de Chile 2023, totaled 528 units to place 28th.

The Para Shooting World Cup in New Delhi will conclude next 15th at the Dr. Karni Singh shooting range, where the event was attended by 268 athletes, distributed in 178 men and 90 women, representing 49 countries.
