Cuba to compete at World Aquatic Sports Championship in Doha

HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 23 (ACN) Cuba will participate with four representatives in the artistic swimming tournament of the World Aquatic Sports Championships, scheduled for February 2 to 18 in Doha, Qatar, where it will also be with the already announced four divers and three swimmers.

Those chosen for the so-called synchronized swimming are Gabriela Alpajon, Dayaris Varona, Andy Manuel Avila and Zoila Valdes, under the direction of coach Kenia Fors.
Kenia explained that Gabriela will compete in the solo and duet with Dayaris, while Avila will compete in the solo and mixed duet with Soila, from 3 to 10, according to the program of the world championship, which will also include water polo, a discipline in which Cuba will not participate.

The four divers are Anisley Garcia, Carlos Daniel Ramos, Prisis Leydis Ruiz and Frank Abel Rosales, under the guidance of Hugo Perez de Corcho, head coach of the national team, and trainer Yudelka Aleman Zamora.

Luisa Maria Mojarrieta, head coach of the national swimming team, announced that the trio of swimmers is headed by the main Cuban female swimmer, Elisbet Gamez, who will compete in the 100, 200 and 400-meter freestyle.

The reduced group is completed by Rodolfo Falcon Jr., in the 1,500 meters freestyle, also with a B mark, and Andrea Becali, in the 50 and 200 meters backstroke, the latter with an invitation letter, Mojarrieta pointed out.

In Doha, tickets for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games will be given out, hence the importance of a good performance.
