Colombian Authorities Take Stance about Inter-Continental Baseball Series

Havana, Jan 9 (ACN) The Intercontinental Professional Baseball Series, organized in the city of Barranquilla staring January 26 by the USA Renteria Team is an event of private and invitational nature.
With that statement, the Colombian Sports Ministry and that country’s Olympic Committee took their stances about the upcoming Intercontinental Professional Baseball Series 2024.
The statements clarifies that the event was not organized by the Colombian Baseball Federation, and it is not on the program of the World Baseball and Softball Confederation, which is the only organization recognized by the International Olympic Committee.
According to Cuba’s Jit publication, the Colombian Sports Ministry and the Olympic Committee rejects the actions of the so-called FEPCUBA Cuban Professional Baseball Federation, which tries to use the name, the representation and national symbols of Cuba, with authorization of the country of origin or the recognition of the Colombian government and is sports authorities. https://www.jit.cu/NewsDetails.aspx?idnoticia=723068

The use of the Cuban national symbols would be understood as an open violation of the constitutional and sport rights of the Republic of Cuba, the statement reads and adds that consequently, the Colombian government represented by the Sports Ministry and the Colombian Olympic Committee recognize in exclusive and legitimate manner the Cuban Baseball and Softball Federation.
