Canoeist Cirilo and wrestler Orta, the best of 2023 in Cuba

 HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 18 (ACN) Canoeist Yarisleidis Cirilo and wrestler Luis Alberto Orta were selected the best of 2023 in Cuba in the category of individual discipline, it was reported today at the meeting hall of the Ciudad Deportiva coliseum, in Havana.

Like Cirilo and Orta, softball player Yilian Tornes and beach volleyball player Jorge Luis Alayo deserved this Monday the high recognition, but in collective sports.

At the meeting of directors of the National Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation ( INDER by its Spanish acronym) and the specialized press, it was also announced that wrestling - Greco-Roman and freestyle (m and f) - and beach volleyball were chosen in individual and collective sports.

Alayo and his partner, Noslen Diaz, made up the best team, while pelotari Cristian Abreu won the rookie of the year award and the tennis players, with their outstanding results, were the stars of the event of the year.

Most outstanding team: beach volleyball (m).

Best individual sport: wrestling.

Best in individual sports: Yarisleydi Cirilo (canoeing) and Luis Alberto Orta (wrestling).

Best in collective sports: Yilian Tornes (softball) and Jorge Luis Alayo (beach volleyball). Mention: Miguel Angel Lopez (volleyball).

Rookie of the year: Cristian Abreu (Basque pelota).

Non-individual event: table tennis mixed doubles (Jorge Campos and Daniela Fonseca).
