HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 17 (ACN) Cubans Jorge Luis Alayo-Noslen Díaz won undefeated the NORCECA Beach Volleyball Continental Tour Finals, held in Juan Dolio, Dominican Republic.
Alayo and Diaz achieved a 2-0 victory over the Canadian pair Schachter-Dearing in this event that granted double points for the ranking as part of the NORCECA qualification system for the 2024 Olympic Games.
The bronze medal went to the Americans Partain-Benesh, who beat the Nicaraguans Mora-Cascante.
As to the women’s competition, in which Cuba was fifth, Cannon-Kraft (USA), Pavan-McBain (Canada) and Navas-Quesada (Puerto Rico) were first, second and third, respectively.
Recently, in the same Dominican venue, Alayo-Diaz and the Cuban women’s pair Amanda-Maykeline won the gold medals in the NORCECA U23 tournament and secured berths for next year’s Junior Pan American Games in Paraguay.
