
HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 12 (ACN) The Cuban duos of Jorge Luis Alayo and Noslen Diaz, and Amanda Armenteros and Maykeline Drik traveled to the Dominican Republic to participate at the U23 tournament and the closing event of the North, Central America and Caribbean Circuit (NORCECA) of beach volleyball.
Alayo-Diaz, the main Cuban duo, were accompanied by coach Francisco Alvarez Cutiño, and the new Amanda-Maykeline pairing by coach Alain Hernandez.
Before heading to the Dominican Republic, Cutiño said that they have prepared themselves to face important competitions, since one of them awards tickets to the Junior Pan American Games of Asuncion 2025 and the other one awards double points -600- for the winner.
He also recalled that they will try to reach the top of the podium, and if they achieve it, they would move up to 25th place in the world ranking in order to qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
It will be a strong tournament, as the best duos from the United States, Canada and Mexico will compete, Cutiño added.
Amanda and Maykeline completed a training base in Cuba, playing against men to raise their level and expect outstanding performances for their current level.
