
Havana, Nov 20 (ACN) Cuban Chess expert Alain Otero took the victory with the white pieces during the seventh round of the World Youth Chess Championship 2023 in Montesilvano, Italy, which took him to the 44th place among all 134 participants.
Otero, 2022 world champ in the Juvenile category, defeated Australian Ruicheng Wang and got four points to contest the 8th round on Tuesday against Armenian Arsen Davtyan.
Russian Aleksey Grebnev is on the top of the list for youths under 18 years with six victories.
Meanwhile in the women’s category, US Rochelle Wu and Azeri Ayan Allahverdiyeva lead the competitions, with six points each.
