
HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 20 (ACN) Cubans Yenigladys Suarez and Di Angelo Loriga won the gold and silver medals, respectively, in the 50-meter (m) P4 mixed pistol, SH1 category, in the para pistol competition of the 7th Parapan American Games Santiago de Chile 2023.
Suarez, champion on Sunday in the 10m air pistol, won her second gold medal in this event with a score of 206.9 in the nine rounds of the final, being the only woman and facing five men.
Her compatriot Loriga (201.7) followed her on the podium to take another silver medal; Brazil's Geraldo Von Rosenthal (185.9) deserved the bronze, according to the competition's official website.
The six finalists also included Cuban Para shooter Alexander Reyna, who finished sixth with 127.1 units.
Earlier in Monday's qualifying phase of that modality, Loriga totaled 515 points to place third, followed by Reyna (513) and Suarez (508), who advanced to the decisive round in fourth and fifth places, in that order.
So far, Cuba has won three gold medals at the 7th Parapan American Games Santiago de Chile 2023, the first of them through Yunier Fernandez in the men's singles table tennis.
