Cuba with highlights today in athletics, wrestling and canoeing at Pan American Games

 

SANTIAGO DE CHILE, Nov 3 (ACN) Cuba will have today another broad and productive day at the 19th Pan American Games of Santiago de Chile 2023, with highlights in athletics, wrestling (f) and Greco, and canoeing, sports with good chances of medals.

On Thursday, wrestling (m and f) won three gold and one bronze medals, and athletics (2-3-1), and the latter will have several chances for medals today, with the focus on the men's triple jump, with Cristian Napoles and Lazaro Martinez.

In wrestling, there will be three freestylers and two Greco Romans, mainly Milaimys Marin, in the 76 kilograms (kg) and Yosvani Peña (77 kg), respectively, who will be looking for a chance of winning prizes. .

From the aquatic track and with kayak, and canoe, four boats will be present, with the best chances of podium, even, at the top, in the single-seater canoe (C-1) at 200 meters with Yarisleidis Cirilo.

The other sports with presence from Cuba are water polo (f), Basque pelota, rhythmic gymnastics, archery, handball (m), artistic swimming, team swimming, karate and volleyball (m), in all cases in different phases.

Undoubtedly, this will be another satisfactory day to increase Cuba's overall medal tally (19-14-12), with which it is now in fifth place in the table of positions by countries - displacing Colombia -, with three days left for the closing of the Chilean multidisciplinary event.
