The Caribbean champions were Maylin del Toro, in the 63 kilograms (kg), Idelannis Gomez (70 kg), Ivan Silva (90 kg), Idalis Ortiz (+78 kg) and Andy Granda (+100 kg), respectively, while Orlando Polanco (66 kg) completed the booty with the bronze medal.
In the mixed team event, they will compete in the 57, 70 and +70 kg for women, and 73, 90 and +90 kg for men, and Cuba appears in pool C with Mexico, their first rival.
The disciples of Yordanis Arencibia and Julio Alderete will once again have their main opponents in the Brazilians, and many specialists expect a final between them.
The truth is that all the teams will go out to compete with full teams except Cuba, since it has no representative in the 57 kg and in every match will go out with a loss against them, although Arencibia, Alderete and their pupils are counting on a good performance.
