Cuba with strong presence today in Pan American Games



SANTIAGO DE CHILE, Oct 31 (ACN) Athletics will stand out for Cuba today at 19th Pan American Games, in Santiago de Chile, where the mixed judo team will also seek medals and artistic swimming and Basque pelota will begin.

Yan Carlos Hernandez and Josmi Sanchez will finish in the decathlon, on the second day of this demanding discipline, with the 110-meter hurdles, discus and javelin throws, pole vault and 1,500-meter run.

In the Coliseum of the Julio Martinez National Stadium in the Chilean capital, Alejandro Parada and Maikel Vidal will seek the podium in the long jump, in another hard day for Cuba in the "king of sports".

Today, the mixed judo team will try to close with a medal the excellent performance of Cuba in this sport, where the delegation has five golds and one bronze.

Tuesday will begin the Basque pelota competition, in which Cristian Abreu and Yalieska Leoncio in frontball and Laura Alvarez with paleta de goma will compete in the individual modality and Daniela Darriba and Wendy Duran in dupla in frontenis.
