SANTIAGO DE CHILE, Oct 23 (ACN) Cuban Andrea Becali advanced today to the final A of the 100-meter freestyle swimming tournament of the 19th Pan American Games of Santiago de Chile 2023, by finishing third in the qualifying event.
Andrea achieved a time of 56.28 seconds, behind the US Amy Fulner (54.78) and Catherine de Loof (55.52), while the also Cuban Elisbet Gamez (56.56) finished fifth and moved on to the B final.
On Sunday, Andrea (2:01.19 minutes) and Elisbet (2:01.78) finished seventh and eighth, respectively, in the 200m freestyle A final.
Both, as part of the four 100-meter freestyle relay, finished fifth on Saturday, with a national record of 3:44.97 minutes, which broke the Cuban record set by the quartet itself when it became champion of the Central American and Caribbean Games of San Salvador 2023.
