SANTIAGO DE CHILE, Chile, Oct 22 (ACN) Cuba’s two-time Olympic medallist Leuris Pupo won his third gold medal in the 25-meter rapid fire pistol tournament of the 2023 Pan American Games held in this city.
Pupo, Olympic champion in London 2012 and runner-up in Tokyo 2020, finished first in the Pan Am Games of 2003 in Santo Domingo and 2007 in Rio and second in 2019 in Lima.
“My goal was to be one of the top six shooters who would be in the final, which I won with 30 points,” he said in statements to the press. “I felt the pressure, but I managed to get it together and meet that goal.”
Following Pupo on the podium were the Venezuelan Douglas Gómez (26 points) and American Henry Leverett (23 points.
