HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 16 (ACN) Miguel Diaz-Canel, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Party and president of the country, highlighted the triumph of the Cuban team in the 1st edition of the Youth Baseball 5 World Cup, held in Ankara.
On X, the head of state congratulated the champions, who won all the games of the competition, just like their seniors, undefeated in the 2022 World Cup.
The Cuban youth team won the title on Sunday in Ankara by defeating France two sets to zero with 6-3 and 2-1, with a highlight for the closing game, achieved in extra inning, when the winning run was scored when the score was tied at one.
Jadier Ulloa and Haila Gonzalez, from Cuba, were the MVP of the Cup, and were also members of the All-Star team; and the island's coach, Sadian Fernandez, was also the best of the competition.
