HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 19 (ACN) Cradle of 85% of the country’s Olympic and world champions, the University of Cuban Sport will celebrate its 50th anniversary with a number of events, scheduled to be held on October 2 to 5, with significant international participation and plans to gather more than 30 rectors, deputy rectors, deans and researchers.
Consolidated in academic work and internationalization, and with sound prospects of growth, the school opened its doors on October 9, 1973 with the first degree course in Physical Culture, and it has graduated a total of 100,645 students since.
The commemoration includes the signing of agreements, recognition of active and retired employees, exchanges with sports glories, and the filming of a documentary, among other initiatives.
Among the school’s latest achievements are the evaluation of excellence of its doctoral program, the 2023 Eureka World Science Award for academic excellence, the organization of the International Convention "University, Physical Activity and Sports", and links with the Ibero-American Postgraduate University Association and the Union of Universities of Latin America and the Caribbean.
