HAVANA, Cuba, Jun 5 (ACN) With outstanding performances by triple jumper Leyanis Perez and long jumper Maikel Vidal, several Cubans were present on the podium of the athletics meeting in San Lucca, Italy.
Perez, who placed fourth at the World Championships in Eugene, United States, last year, finished first in the triple jump with a mark of 14.65 meters (m).
With this result, she once again proved her stability above 14.50m, although she was below the 14.84m obtained at the second stop of the Diamond League in Rabat, Morocco, on May 28.
For his part, Vidal won the long jump with 7.94 m, ahead of his compatriots Alejandro Parada (7.85 m) and Aniel Molina (7.74 m), second and third place, respectively.
Finally, Roxana Gomez, Tokyo 2020 Olympic finalist, finished fourth in the 200m flat (m/p) with a personal best of 23.71 seconds, according to the official website of the event.
Gomez, who usually runs the 400 m/p, ran in 800 m/p as part of her training for future tournaments.
