Havana, Cuba, May 16 (ACN) The Cuban Boxing Federation issued an official release on Tuesday confirming that two-times world boxing champion Yoenlis Hernandez Feliciano abandoned the island’s delegation during its trip back to Cuba from Tashkent.
The Federation explains that Hernadez, who contested the World Boxing Championship in Uzbekistan, decided not to return to Cuba after the plane made a stop-over in Panama.
Hernadez’s decision implies his rupture with the Cuban boxing team and with his competitive compromises assumed for the current and upcoming season, explains the official release.
The Cuban Boxing Federation describes the action as a serious indiscipline and adds that other boxers will occupy Hernadez’s place in the flagship of Cuban sports.
