HAVANA, Cuba, Apr 23 (ACN) The Cuban Claudia Baró clocked 2:48:08 hours to finish 12th and close her country’s participation in the Pan American Road Cycling Championship, held in Panama, where Cuba only won a bronze medal through Carlos Daniel Montes de Oca in the junior category.
The American Skyler Schneider won the 102.4-km-long race, followed by the Canadian Alison Jackson and the Chilean Catalina Soto.
The other Cubans cyclists—Daimelyn Pérez, Aylena Quevedo and Evelin Díaz—finished 15th, 35th and 38th, respectively, among the 68 riders who made it to the finish.
Despite brilliant performances in recent years by figures such as Arlenis Sierra, Marlies Mejías, Yumari González and Baró herself, Cuba had poor results in this event that gathered 320 cyclists from 31 countries.
