HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 8 (ACN) Executives of Cuba’s Universidad del Deporte met with Roberto Escalante Semerena, Secretary-General of the Union of Universities of Latin America and the Caribbean (UDUAL), who stated his interest in making the Cuban study center a member of his organization.
According to Mr. Escalante, the Manuel Fajardo University of Physical Culture and Sports Sciences (UCCFD) of Cuba enjoys sufficient international recognition to apply for UDUAL membership, which UCCFD rector Silvano Merced Len described as a great opportunity given the organization’s deep roots in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Established in 1949, UDUAL brings together some 230 public and private universities from 22 countries and promotes relations at regional and international level and exchanges of professors, students and researchers, as well as the creation of publications, the improvement of teaching quality and the development of social responsibility.
