President of International Gymnastics Federation visits Cuba



HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 11 (ACN) After his visit last August, Morinari Watanabe, president of the International Gymnastics Federation, returns this weekend to Cuba, where he was interested in strengthening cooperation so that the country's gymnasts reach the top places in the world.

On Monday, the Japanese executive will meet with the Cuban Gymnastics Federation at the National School of that sport, and on Tuesday he will meet with Roberto Leon Richards, illustrious former gymnast and President of the Cuban Olympic Committee (COC), at the COC headquarters, announced the Communication Directorate of the National Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation (INDER).

During his stay in Havana, which will end on Wednesday, Watanabe will learn about the preparation of the national teams for the Central American and Caribbean Games in San Salvador and the Pan American Games in Santiago de Chile, both in 2023, and will also enjoy an aerobic gymnastics exhibition in the Punta Brava neighborhood, in the municipality of La Lisa, according to Jit, an INDER publication.

After highlighting the success story of Cuban gymnasts, Watanabe commented in August on projections for material support, with the purpose of Cuba obtaining remarkable results in the Olympic cycle of Los Angeles 2028.
