HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 6 (ACN) For its excellent result in the World Cup, the national Baseball5 team was voted Best Team of the Year 2022 in Cuba by the national specialized press and sport executives.
The Cuban players of this sport, which has its origin in the popular Cuatro esquinas [Four corners] played throughout the Island, did honor to their status as favorites and prevailed in the World Cup held in Mexico City, where they won all 18 games in the calendar, scoring 164 runs and allowing only 16—9.1 and 0.8 per match, respectively.
The Cuban Briandy Molina, who reached base in 68 of 90 possible occasions, was chosen Most Valuable Player of the Cup among the men.
In a year in which Cuban baseball fell short of every expectation in all categories, Baseball5 set an example and boosted the fans’ spirits.
