International Sports Directive Acknowledges Cuban Boxing



Havana, Nov 29 (ACN) The president of the International Boxing Association, Russian Umar Kremlev, acknowledged Cuban boxing during a visit Tuesday to the Holvein Quesada National Boxing Academy, in the Havana locality of Wajay.

Kremlev exchanged views with directives, trainers and boxers at the academy, which he described as a center which has formed many world and Olympic champs over the past 50 years.

Cuban boxing is the best in the world, that’s why I decided to make my first visit to Cuba and to this academy after having been promoted to IBA president, in order to enjoy the special technique of Cuban trainers, said the Russian executive.

Kremlev announced the contribution of 300 pairs of gloves and head protectors to help the country which organized the first World Boxing Championship Havana 1974.

He explained that the IBA is expected to invest funds to fully reconstruct the Holvein Quesada academy and turned it into an international training center, where all national selections can exchange and do drills with Cuban boxers, who are the best of the world, said the IBA president.

The executive said that he will make his best efforts to prevent boxing from being excluded from the Olympic Games because it’s a very popular sports with so many fans around the world.
