
HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 25 (ACN) Cuban women's basketball team debuted with a setback in the Centrobasket tournament held in Chihuahua, Mexico, until the next 27th, losing 59-68 to the local team.
Gladys Avila led the Mexican team with 18 points, well supported by teammates Claudia Ramos (17) and Paola Beltran (15), according to the official website of the tournament.
On the other side, team captain Yamara Amargo carried the most offensive weight by scoring 22 points, while Melissa Despaigne and Isabela Jordain contributed with 11 each.
As for the collective statistics, the Cuban team had a poor 30.67 % of effectiveness in field goals, thanks to 23 baskets in 75 attempts; while from long distance they only achieved a 18.18 % (2/11).
Today, the Cuban team will be looking for its first win against El Salvador, in a match where losing would mean being eliminated and without a place in the 2023 Cup of the Americas.
