HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 25 (ACN) Cuban archers will compete today for individual places for the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago de Chile, in the continental archery qualifying tournament held until the 27th in Chile.
Led by Hugo Franco and Elizabeth Rodriguez, Cuba's representatives will be in the elimination matches where only one athlete per country is guaranteed a place, according to the official website of the event.
After failing to qualify for the places offered in the team competition, the goal is to place among the top four, in both genders, in order to get a ticket to next year's multisport event.
Among the women, Maydenia Sarduy and Yailin Paredes will also compete in the 70-meter recurve archery, while Franco Javier Vega and debutant Juan Jose Santiesteban will join Franco for the men.
Also, in the disability category will be Leydis Posada and Alejandro Hernandez, who will be competing for tickets to the Parapan American Games of Santiago 2023.
