HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 23 (ACN) The Cubans Jaimet Ruano and Dennier Infante will try today to maintain or improve their positions in the Sunfish and Laser ILCA 7 classes in the sailing tournament of the 1st Central American and Caribbean Sea and Beach Games of Santa Marta 2022.
Jaimet is in second place with 16 points, behind the Venezuelan Sabrina Hernandez after six of the eight races, whereas Infante (23) is running third, surpassed by Puerto Rico's Pedro Luis Fernandez (17) and El Salvador's Enrique Jose Aratoon (9).
The games in Santa Marta gathered more than 500 athletes from 26 countries to compete in 10 sports.
Team Cuba’s goals are to get the ticket for the world championships and other tournaments in 2023, namely the Central American and Caribbean Games in San Salvador, the Pan American Games in Santiago de Chile, and the ALBA Games in Venezuela.
